Muizenberg
False Bay

Muizenberg was once a military base. In 1795 the British defeated the Dutch in the Battle of Muizenberg. At the beginning of the 20th century Muizenberg became a prestigious seaside resort for affluent Capetonians. The grand mansions along the beach promenade are monuments of the former wealth of Muizenberg.

Nowadays a rather mixed crowd comes together in Muizenberg but it still has its stunning wide sand beaches, turquoise-blue water and one of the bays best sheltered from the wind on the Cape Peninsula, ideal for surfing and for children alike. A popular photo motif, for fashion shoots, are the colourful wooden cabins.
